Synopsis

On August 7th 1998 Jala is killed in the U.S. Embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania, leaving her husband Wayne to raise their baby son Jabari alone. Tweleve years later, Wayne is burying his pain in his work becoming an accomplished surgeon, he dedicates little time to family life.  Jabari has developed into a troubled 12 year-old who spends his days playing video games and only socializing online.  His apathy has become downright disrespectful and he’s been kicked out of his third prep school. Unable to deal with his child's rebellion and his own  dangerous lack of attentiveness, Wayne decides his only option is to send Jabari to his grandparents in Settlement, Jamaica. He hopes Jabari’s strong-willed grandparents will break through the shell Jabari has built around himself.  Will Jabari bridge the gap between his anger over a childhood lost and embrace the young manhood that awaits him, or will he be lost forever?
